Gilberton Swing Bridge - River Torrens Linear Park, St Peters and Gilberton

Refurbishment and Restructure of the heritage-listed, Gilberton Swing Bridge - River Torrens Linear Park, St Peters and Gilberton.

The Gilberton Swing Bridge (the Swing Bridge) is a heritage-listed site within the River Torrens Linear Park. It is jointly owned by Norwood Payneham & St Peters and Walkerville, and is located between the suburbs of St Peters and Gilberton.

In addition to its historical significance, the Swing Bridge has been used by pedestrians for almost 100 years and is highly valued by the local community.

Due to public safety concerns, both Councils agreed to close the swing bridge temporarily to undergo a complete and total refurbishment of the structure. The project was completed in January of 2018.

Over 70 people joined Mayors Robert Bria and Ray Grigg in the grand opening of the new Gilberton Swing Bridge on Saturday, 13 January 2018.

This project was submitted to the CCFSA Earth Awards for 2018, and won!

Project Value Up to $2M
